Winner of the 57th Baeksang Award for Best Drama, Actor and Screenplay, “Beyond Evil” continued the theme of dark and brooding suspense-thriller Korean dramas which seemed to predominate spring of 2021. Things came to a head when Lee Dong Sik’s adopted niece, Kang Min Jung, disappeared, with her chopped off fingertips only left behind as a clue. But as he learned the group dynamics of the police officers and some of the Munyung residents, Han Joo Won’s list of suspects broadened to everybody, as the prime killer or accomplices.

In present day South Korea, a series of murders and missing women rekindled interest in Munyung, where Lee Dong Sik lived. He continued to search for his sister’s remains, who was presumed deceased. In spite of this tragic experience, he decided to become a police officer. Due to lack of sufficient evidence and a body, the charges were dropped. It was a good closure.ĭislikes: Nothing to dislike.Lee Dong Sik was accused of killing his twin sister 20 years ago.

I was so happy to see what happened a couple of years later. The very last scene (I’m not gonna mentioned who got arrested), it was moving. I thought that was very dramatic with all those gun pointing and missed shooting. No one would want to back down and they could go on forever. In addition, these two acting – especially when they were bickering were a scene to behold! Their characters were so good with words.

This just shows, a young Yeo Jin Goo could be as competent as the veteran Shin Ha Kyun. He was a junior of Lee Dong Sik, loathed him at first but ended up teaming up with him. He realized the hard way he could only learn and understand people and situations from experience.

I wasn’t disappointed! As Han Joo Won, he showed arrogance from being well-educated and well to do. I knew he would do good… no actually great here. He had great potentials back then! He turned out to be one of the best young kdrama actors and he’s been consistent through the years. Yeo Jin Goo as Han Joo Won – I’ve been watching this guy since he was this young crown prince in an older period kdrama. Very well portrayed Shin Ha Kyun, love this guy! He had to hang on to the last strand of his sanity. And on the road to finding her, he realizes people very close to him have got something to do with her death. I love him here as Lee Dong Sik, a police officer who almost lost all hopes finding his missing twin sister. Shin Ha Kyun as Lee Dong Sik – Oh my gosh, I find him gorgeous! Is it the age, the wrinkles, the messy hair, the voice, the crazy smile, him wearing the uniform, maybe all combined! He is such a fine actor. Everyone was brilliant which makes this drama a gem. In this drama, you’ve got to keep up with every character because they’re just as important as the leading men. It’s normally focused on the leads and their roles. It’s rare to see a lot of stand out characters in one show. The main song is also sooo good, Timeless! Or just listen to the complete Beyond Evil OST. I especially like the one with the guitar by Ha Guen Young & Very Berry. And of course it always end with a really good cliffhanger which makes you want for more! I have a 1-episode per night watching rule and this series made me watch 2 in one night! Soo good that it’s bad 🤭. It makes you try to solve the puzzle on your own. It went on and like me, you’ll be surprised!Ĭonsistently good. This didn’t end with the capture and death of the serial killer. And yeah this is such a brilliant story covered in intricate web of mysteries. I could watch straight away! Which was good so I could focus on the story. So I don’t have to wait for a week for 2 new episodes to air. When I started watching the first episodes, the whole series was almost done. Likes: Detective, serial-killer mystery is my cup of tea so this one was a treat! And it’s a great one at that. Genre: Thriller, Detective, Serial Killer That makes both question who the real monster is. As they are uncovering the identity of the killer, they find more people link to his one unsolved crime. Preview: A story of two fearless police inspectors who tries to catch a serial killer.
